The Jefferson High School Academic Decathlon Team took first place in the large school category at the state tournament March 3rd and 4th, with a team score of 43, 253.3 points out of a possible 60,000 points.
CONGRATULATIONS to the following students for being selected to the Coe College Senior Honor Band! The Honor Band concert will take place on Sunday, April 2nd in Sinclair Auditorium.
Congratulations to the Jefferson speech team on a great weekend. The speech team participated in the individual district speech contest on February 25. Receiving division one ratings and advancing to state are: Zahara Aalabdulrasul, Alexi Bolden, Bre Kenney, and Chiara Afftigato. These students will be participating in the state speech contest in two weeks.
Jefferson High School is congratulating senior, Rylan Poldberg for her outstanding work with the 2017 Scholastics Art and Writing competition. This is Jefferson’s 9th year winning regionals and Rylan’s 2nd year winning Scholastics.

For the 18th time in the last 19 years, the Jefferson Academic Decathlon Team represented the State of Iowa at the national competition -- bringing home third place for the second year in a row! Congratulations, J-Hawks!
Iowa BIG is a program that allows Cedar Rapids students the opportunity to earn required credit within a project-based learning environment. In addition to learning core content, students have opportunities to develop employability, communication, and networking skills.
Mary Korch, Chase Muenzenmeyer, Hannah Carter, Drake Krambeer, and Nate Richardson (pictured with John Wheeler of the Iowa Bar Association); all students in Chris Rolwes AP U.S. History classes, were finalists in The Iowa State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division "Know Your Constitution" Project. One hundred finalists were selected from the more than 1,000 students across the state of Iowa.
