Student Council History
Holiday Meal Serves Over 600 Members of Jefferson Community
On this past Wednesday evening before our first winter storm hit, Jefferson High School hosted a holiday dinner for the community. The inspiration for this free dinner came from Jefferson's Food and Nutrition employees who wanted to give back to the Jefferson community. They shared the idea with JHS Student Council who enlisted the assistance of community businesses as well as many staff and student volunteers.
Students spent the early dismissal afternoon transforming the cafeteria into an elegant space with tablecloths and center pieces that were created and gifted by JHS staff. Families were escorted to a table where they had their own personal server to attend to them. Music and conversation filled the air as nearly 600 people were served turkey with mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and rolls along with a huge selection of desserts made by our staff.
A special thank you to the CR netWORK for their initial jump start donation of $1,000 towards our holiday meal. Because of the generosity of the sponsors listed below and the people that attended the event, the JHS Student Council was able to donate the entire amount back to the CR netWORK for other Westside kids to take advantage of!
