• Jefferson offers a wide selection of Advanced Placement (AP) courses...equal to any area high school.
• Our Academic Decathlon teams are consistent state champions, representing Iowa at national competitions 14 of the last 15 years!
• Our ITED scores rival, and in some subjects top, those of other metro-area high schools.
• JHS students regularly top the national average on the ACT's PLAN test.
• Our staff goes above and beyond to do whatever it takes for all of our students to succeed! From those that excel to those that struggle, everyone is given the opportunity to excel!
• We embrace educational innovation: As the first to pioneer the use of Professional Learning Communities in the district, we continue to be a leader in all the district's PLC initiatives.
• We are one of eight schools in the state of Iowa to recieve a $48,000 grant to enhance the quality of our physical education courses.
• Current building remodelling will provide students and staff with modern learning spaces complete with energy efficient lighting, window walls, and geothermal heating and cooling!
• Iowa's premiere Project Lead the Way program is offered on campus - not at some distant location!
• Through a partnership with Kirkwood, we offer Academy Coursework that gives students an opportunity to earn dual credit (high school and college)!
