Jefferson High School is congratulating senior, Rylan Poldberg for her outstanding work with the 2017 Scholastics Art and Writing competition. This is Jefferson’s 9th year winning regionals and Rylan’s 2nd year winning Scholastics. She received THREE Silver Key awards and THREE Honorable Mentions for her photography.
The Scholastics Awards is the nation’s longest-running, largest, most prestigious recognition program for art students. Over the past years, the awards have recognized artists and writers such as Sylvia Plath, Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Robert Redford, Tom Otterness, and Zac Possen. My AP students work incredibly hard for this opportunity and I am incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication preparing for this award.
In addition to Rylan’s awards with Scholastics, she was recently accepted to the Chicago Art Institute and Columbia College where she will further her education with photography.
Rylan will be recognized in March 2017 at the Belin Blank Center at the University of Iowa for her achievements.
